Royal Liveblog Movie Schedule:

vintage-royalty:

Thursday, December 6: Charles and Diana: A Palace Divided

This 1990’s TV movie tells the true story of Charles and Diana starring real life royal Catherine Oxenberg. Apparently it’s really bad.

Friday, December 7: W.E.- A Film by Madonna (Yep, I found it!)

The greatest love story of all time told by the 21st century’s greatest filmmaker. Some “history nerds” may complain that the real Wallis and Edward probably never got high and did a dance routine to a Sex Pistols song but those people don’t understand ~art~!

Thursday, December 13: Diana: Her True Story

ilovethebritishroyals calls this film AWFUL and terrible. This film is obviously pretty bad given it’s based on one of the best known and loved royal biographies of all time yet remains one of the most obscure royal films.

Friday, December 14: The Other Boleyn Girl

This extremely low budget TV movie stars Lane Pryce aka Jared Harris as Henry VIII. It’s shot like a reality show, complete with a “confession cam” where the characters talk directly to the audience. Just think of it as The Real Housewives of Tudor England.

Thursday, December 20: The Woman I Love

Faye Dunaway and Richard Chamberlain star as Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII in one of the most weepy and melodramatic TV films of the 1970’s. Also for some weird reason Louis Mountbatten threw a hissy fit over this film’s existance.

Friday, December 21: A Princess for Christmas

This comes from Hallmark and is apparently horifically awful. I never saw it, but I remember seeing a trailer.

Wikipedia description:

At the invitation of an estranged relative, Jules Daly travels with her niece Maddie and nephew Milo to a castle in Europe for Christmas where she unwittingly falls for the dashing Ashton, the prince of Castlebury. Maddie and Milo meet their Grandad, who they have waited to meet for many years. Their expectations of their grandfather are completely different to the character they meet when they first arrive. Ashton is gradually moving outside his life of titles and horses to becoming more down to earth in some aspects.

By funny coincidence, the star of this movie was also one of the girls in W.E., and apparently this is not the only bit of overlap on our film list!

I have left room for Saturdays, so if/when we find the Hallmark Will and Kate movie we can insert that into the schedule.

Bringing the royal fandom together in the name of corny royal film! Come on guys, let’s do this! :)
